artifactapi is about to enforce auth on registry pushes, and the release step pushes to docker-internal anonymously.

  • mint an artifactapi-writer OIDC token via Vault k8s auth (role woodpecker_artifactapi_writer) using the step SA token
  • verify Vault TLS with the repo's unkin-ca.crt
  • parse the Vault responses with sed, as the buildah image has no jq
  • feed the token to buildah login --password-stdin before the pushes, keeping it out of argv and logs

  • nit: .woodpecker/release.yaml:32 — buildah login --tls-verify=false sends the writer token over unverified TLS → acceptable only while the bootstrap exemption holds; drop the flag once the image trusts the internal CA
