Cached Vault tokens sit on disk as plaintext JSON, readable by anything that can read the cache dir or a backup of it.

  • seal token files with a per-boot kernel keyring key via golib/keyring (shared by vcm and vctx)
  • report undecryptable (post-reboot or legacy plaintext) tokens as locked with a vcm login hint
  • report corrupt token files with the file path
  • write token files via a unique temp file instead of a fixed .tmp
  • document encryption and re-login after reboot
